How Much Does a Luxury Kenya Safari Cost?

Every journey is priced to your budget. Here is what sits inside a Kenya safari price, which fees the government sets, and which choices move the total.

Every Kenya safari is priced to your budget. Private, tailor-made journeys with NndeeAfrika begin at approximately $12,000 per person, excluding international flights. This page explains what sits inside that figure, which fees the government sets, and which choices move the total.

The short answer

From about $12,000 per person, private and tailor-made, and priced to your budget. Longer journeys, peak-season dates and fly-in itineraries sit above that starting point. As a guide, luxury safari camps and lodges typically run from about $1,000 to $3,000 or more per person per night, depending on the camp, its location and the season. The month you travel, whether you stay in a private conservancy, and whether you fly between parks move the number most. We do not sell fixed packages; every proposal is itemized line by line.

What a day on safari in Kenya is made of

There is no single daily rate, because the camps you choose, the season and the number of nights all move it. What a day is made of matters more than an average:

Kenya park fees for 2026

Kenya’s national parks are run by the Kenya Wildlife Service, whose current schedule took effect in October 2025. The Maasai Mara is a national reserve run by Narok County on its own schedule. Fees are per person per day for non-resident adults; children and students pay less.

A worked example: a non-resident adult who spends three days in the Maasai Mara reserve in August and two days in Amboseli pays US$600 plus US$180, or US$780 in park fees. On a conservancy-based itinerary, the conservancy fee inside the camp rate replaces most of the reserve fee. The KWS schedule is published as a PDF on the Kenya Wildlife Service website; the Mara schedule, ticket rules and children’s rates are in our Maasai Mara park fees guide.

What moves the price most

  • The season. July to October brings the Great Migration to the Mara and the highest rates. In the green seasons, broadly April to May and November, rates ease at many camps.
  • Conservancy or reserve. The private conservancies bordering the Mara limit vehicles and allow night drives and walks; their fees sit inside the camp rate.
  • Flying or driving. Wilson Airport in Nairobi to the Mara is 45 to 60 minutes by air, against a long day by road. Our fly-in safari guide explains how the flights work.
  • A private vehicle. At many camps game drives are shared unless a private vehicle is reserved.
  • How many camps. Two or three camps with longer stays usually cost less in flights and transfers than four or five short ones.
  • Adding the coast. A beach finish on the Kenyan coast or in the Seychelles adds nights and a flight; see beaches and islands.

What is included, and what is not

A NndeeAfrika proposal is one itemized figure: every camp named night by night, meals and guided activities, park, reserve and conservancy fees, flights and transfers inside Kenya, and a 24/7 line to us while you travel.

Not included: international flights, travel insurance, Kenya’s electronic travel authorization (about $30), tips (we suggest about $20–25 per person per day for your guide and $10–15 for camp staff), and extras such as premium drinks and spa treatments. Our guide to what is included covers each line, and the Kenya safari page sets out where to go.

Kenya safari cost questions

How much does a luxury Kenya safari cost?

Every Kenya safari is priced to your budget. As a guide, luxury safari camps and lodges typically run from about $1,000 to $3,000 or more per person per night, depending on the camp, its location and the season. Camps in the private conservancies build conservancy fees into their nightly rate. Private, tailor-made NndeeAfrika journeys begin at approximately $12,000 per person, excluding international flights.

How much are Kenya park fees in 2026?

For non-resident adults, the Kenya Wildlife Service charges US$90 per day at Amboseli and Lake Nakuru, US$80 at Nairobi National Park and Tsavo East and West, and US$70 at Meru and the Aberdares, under the schedule in force since October 2025. The Maasai Mara National Reserve, run by Narok County, charges US$200 per adult per day from July to December and US$100 from January to June.

Is a Kenya safari cheaper than Tanzania?

It depends on where you stay and when. The Maasai Mara reserve fee is higher than the Serengeti park fee in the second half of the year, while Kenya’s short flights from Nairobi save time on the road, and conservancy camps include their fees in the nightly rate. Because every journey is priced to your budget, we price both countries for your dates when you are deciding.

When is the best-value time for a Kenya safari?

The green seasons, broadly April to May and November, when rates ease at many camps and the parks are quieter. Some camps close in April and May. The Maasai Mara reserve fee is also US$100 rather than US$200 per adult per day from January to June.

Are park fees included in a NndeeAfrika Kenya safari?

Yes. Park, reserve and conservancy fees appear as their own lines in your itemized proposal, counted per day at the rates for your travel dates.
