The Kenya Tanzania safari itinerary, day by day

A 13-day Kenya Tanzania safari itinerary — one unbroken arc through East Africa’s greatest gamelands: Amboseli beneath Kilimanjaro, a private Maasai Mara conservancy, the Serengeti and the crater.

Nothing here is fixed — this is the shape we design most often. Tell us what to keep, stretch or swap, and your version arrives priced and complete.

Best time to go

July–October, when the migration is on the Kenya side and everything is dry and golden.

US travelers: check current entry requirements for each country on travel.state.gov — we also walk you through visas at booking.

Day 1

Nairobi

Arrive; overnight in leafy Karen with time for the Sheldrick elephant nursery.

Days 2–3

Amboseli

Fly to Amboseli and its private conservancies — great tuskers on the plains beneath Kilimanjaro’s snows.

Days 4–7

Maasai Mara

A private Mara conservancy — off-road big cats, night drives, guided walks and Maasai-led culture, with strict vehicle limits keeping sightings yours.

Days 8–10

Serengeti

Cross into Tanzania via the Migori–Tarime border or fly via Nairobi–Kilimanjaro; three nights following the migration — north or central by season.

Days 11–13

Ngorongoro & out

Crater floor finale, then fly home via Kilimanjaro airport.

Good to know

Questions about this journey

By air via Nairobi and Kilimanjaro, or overland at the Isebania/Namanga posts with vehicles exchanged at the border — we handle visas guidance, timing and the handover so it feels seamless.

Not with this pacing — four distinct ecosystems with 2–4 nights each. First-timers finish it wanting more, not less.

US travelers need an eVisa for each — both straightforward online applications we walk you through at booking.
