A family safari itinerary paced for children and grandparents alike — short hops, family suites, junior-ranger guides and a beach finale where everyone finally slows down.

Nothing here is fixed — this is the shape we design most often. Tell us what to keep, stretch or swap, and your version arrives priced and complete.

Best time to go

July–October and December–February align school holidays with prime game viewing.

US travelers: check current entry requirements for each country on travel.state.gov — we also walk you through visas at booking.

Day 1

Nairobi

Arrive Nairobi to a garden hotel in Karen, with an afternoon at the Sheldrick elephant nursery.

Days 7–9

The beach

Fly from the Mara airstrips to the coast (direct in season, or via Nairobi) — connecting family rooms, snorkeling lessons, and time for the grown-ups too.

Good to know

Questions about this journey

From about six, children get genuine magic from it — junior-ranger programs, tracking and fireside stories. Camps set their own minimums (some 6+, some 12+); we match the camp to your youngest.

Shorter, flexible game drives, family suites or private vehicles, pool afternoons, and a beach finish — the shape of this whole itinerary. Grandparents rest while kids track lizards; everyone meets at dinner.

The camps we use are experienced with families — and we advise honestly on malaria prophylaxis by area, or route you to malaria-free South Africa if you prefer to skip it entirely.

Most of our travelers arrive the old-fashioned way — sent by someone who just came home.
